Do you like this story?
With Rhys Taylor on loan, Hilario growing old and Ross Turnbull still maturing one thought comes to mind. The need for a new cover keeper is being highlighted. Hilario isn't fit to be a keeper at Chelsea any more and some of his disappointing performances had adverse effects for the club last year. Carlo Ancelotti must look for a new goal keeper to take on board.
Even though goalkeepig coach, Christopher Lochillon, said everything was "fine in his department" we must realise that its not. Petr Cech has succumbed to injury recently and there is no fit cover for him. Ross Turnbull showed some good signs when he played against Inter Milan last season. The Englishman could cover for Cech but is he up to the mark?
Cech has never been the same since his head injury and we all must agree to that. The need to provide him with competition is a must so that in case of emergency we can have the right man to step in front of those 2 goal posts.
There have been several names who have been linked with the club for back up. Those include Athletico Madrid pair Daniel De Gea and Sergio Asenjo. Both are brilliant youngsters and could be future stars if given the chance to move to a club where their efforts won't go unnoticed by the club and the manager.
While some might argue Rhys Taylor can be that goal keeper we must realize that the Welsh youngster is still maturing and will need loan experience and hence he has moved to Crewe Alexandra on loan. Such reponsibilty at such a club isn't correct for a youngster who is still developing.
Whatever we say the need to dive into the market for a goal keeper seems like a must to some of us now.
Who will play against Manchester United as we kick off our season at Wembley? Are Hilario or Turnbull fit to step in Cech's shoes?
