Chelsea have slapped a £30 million price tag on Ashley Cole, following the persistent interest from Real Madrid.
Madrid's new manager, Jose Mourinho, has reportedly been interested in the 29-year-old left-back for several weeks, but the Independent reports Chelsea will not sell the England international defender unless he makes it clear he wants to leave.
Cole, who signed a four-year contract last September, has been on holiday in the United States recently and is not due back for pre-season training until July 26 after his involvement in World Cup 2010.
Following a dismal campaign in South Africa though with the Three Lions, he reportedly told friends he is unhappy with life in England following his public split from wife Cheryl and is looking for a clean start abroad.
Such a declaration has alerted the attention of the La Liga giants, a club which might not be put off by the Blues high valuation of Cole, who won a domestic double with Chelsea last season.
