Just the Community Shield or Respect!!!
In 3 days time we will be playing our arch-rivals in the community shield match. While this trophy does not generate the frenzy like the premier league or the champions league, losing it on the first day of the season to Man U will be a big blow. Our pre-season has not been exactly great with King Carlo himself admitting Chelsea ain't ready for the start of the season. The only factor has to be the disappointment of the WC and not tiredness as most of the Chelsea World Cup contingent were knocked out early. The only heartening thing in the whole episode is Michael Essien, who was once called by the Special One himself as Eleven Players in one , has beeen in tremendous form. Ramires is on his way but the signing if made earlier could have been better. We are still missing a proper right-back with Branislav playing along side Terry. Paulo Ferreira is well past his best days as was proved last season.
Defensive woes continued even in the last game of the season where we slipped out to Hamburg. We still don't have a proper midfield. The only reason last time we got off to a flying start was that our team was prepared. We knew who would line up. This time with new players scheduled to arrive we haven't exactly got the shape to our team. Our striking options are still limited like last time without counting the addition of Gael Kakuta into the first team. Now when a team like Chelsea is fighting for 4 trophies we need the depth in the squad. Unless we pull off some major coup before the 31st deadline we clearly don't have the depth. Then again being the optimist and blue-blooded fan I am I am hoping the young guns will fire for us. After all we have won many trophies in recent times with the Academy and that is something to count for.
