Match Day #4 Review - West Ham Vs. Chelsea

Absence of Lampard and Malouda Didn't Make The Difference

As the days are passing I have started to believe that this team is getting better and better and really hard to play against. It doesn't seem to matter that much whether the key players make the field or not and yesterday's match was perfect example of that as we didn't have Lampard even in match day squad due to injury and Malouda was on the bench, as Carlo has already suggested that he will rotate the squad this season to keep players healthy and in good condition for Champion League.

In the absence of Lampard, new signing Ramires got his first taste of premier league from the start of the match and he did not disappoint us at all, although I agree that it will take time for him to get settle in the team and the style of play but still we all can see that he had a fair match.

Alex didn't start the match (injury?) and so Brana was placed at his natural position along with returning Terry and two had a good game despite bit of worries from Obinha. Also midfield was in real mood yesterday lead by the tireless work of Essien who totally deserved to be on the score sheet twice and Kalou also grabbed his another goal of the season in unusual circumstances.

He Is In The Mood

Ancelotti after match - "It was important to win and to stay top. We had good control and did not take risks defensively. We could play better offensively but the result was good."

Prior to the match the talking point was whether any of the West Ham player will be able to break the Chelsea defense which has been unmatched for last 10 games and it highly seemed unlikely to happen considering the start of the campaign which they had but to our surprise they actually did manage to score the goal thanks to the volley of Scott Parker. Well I am not saying that I was disappointed seeing we conceded the goal cause it was going to happen in this match or in any of the upcoming matches so its part of the game and we should get on with it.

At the end of the day what mattered most is that we earned the 3 points despite Malouda making fringe appearance aLampard being totally absent. It showed that we can sustain without the star players. We stayed on top of the league for another week and increased the gap between united who failed to win against Everton also the good thing about yesterday's match is that finally we were able to see Kakuta this season who played quarter of an hour and exhibiting his skills with one or two dribbling.

Only concern about the match was JT's injury who hurt his ribs and will undergo assessment before game against Zilina in midweek.

Kalou 17'

    Man of The Match -
Well should there be any doubt after watching the performance of Essien throughout the match and all over the field and also his 2 goals in the game are enough to be named him man of the match.
