Flying High Above All
The Stamford bridge seems to be turning into hell on earth for visiting teams theses days. Well not only Stamford bridge, playing against Chelsea is like a hell for opponents.
Yesterday's match was special. We started just 18th time in 10 years without JT and Lampard. Both were outside of matchday squad. Also Anelka was on the bench. Still absence of this players mattered? Cant say yes considering the performance.
We started the game under the lead of talisman figure of Drogba, and even before fans were taking the seat, bang........and goal.... Kalou did it this time on corner.
We got ourselves in driving position and immediately started to dominate as we are doing regulary. players were energetic and co-ordination was looking really good. Trio of malouda, essien and ashley cole were making opponents disturbed with their commanding game and signs were pretty good for another mammoth goal tally.
And they didn't disappoint us. We scored total o f 4 goals in first half thanks to 2 by Malouda, and each by Drogba and Kalou.
Fans were getting what they wanted, lots and lots of goals and attractive style of play. All credit goes to none other than king Carlo.
Question in the half time was, will there be another 6 goal thumping, the familiar figure for Stamford bridge faithfuls this season. But it wasn't to be.
Visitors took the control of the game in second half and started to wander more and more in our area with good passing skills and dominant game. They looked like they have forgotten the goal line of first half and were playing to prove the point. Orange army created few real good chances but Ivanovic and save of the match by Cech, made them keep wondering how to break this defence?.
We looked like we changed the gears and were playing bit of a lazy game. Players never looked eager to go forward and increase the lead in second half. May be it was fatigue, maybe it was obvious that we had won the match in first half itself or maybe Blackpool didn't give us a space to create enough chances. And I agree with many of the fans that we could have done better in that half. But its part of the game. Sometimes it happens.
Despite Blackpool being on the front foot for majority of the second half, Ancelotti introduced Bruma into defence, which was bold decision. It was a bit of risk but it was worth to take to give such valuable game experience to budding youngsters. Bruma did well well when he got the ball and didn't disappoint. He will be the player to count on coming time.
Midfield and attack was as always on high note and the scoreline is enough proof of it. Tireless work of Essien was key point of the match and he has been proving his capabilities after returning from injury.
Next game will be against Newcastle at home in midweek in Carling cup. and as being said by manager he will use this competition to give chances to youngsters which will provide them quality first team experience and also deserved rest to star players to get refreshed for next week's trip to Manchester city.
At the end, 4-0 scoreline, goal difference of +20, sitting on the top with 4 points gap, what else would you want from champions?
