So any doubts that had been remaining in some people’s mind of whether Rooney is actually going to leave Manchester United , have been eradicated by Rooney himself, by giving an official statement confirming the news that he is about to leave as told by Sir Alex Ferguson yesterday.

While the manager indirectly accused him of being greedy when demanding new improved terms on the contract, Wayne rubbished his manager’s  claims by stating that lack of ambition shown by the club is his one an only reason to leave the club in January.

This is what the statement read:

"I met with David Gill last week and he did not give me any of the assurances I was seeking about the future squad,'' said Rooney.”I then told him that I would not be signing a new contract.''
"I was interested to hear what Sir Alex had to say yesterday and surprised by some of it,'' continued Rooney.
"It is absolutely true, as he said, that my agent and I have had a number of meetings with the club about a new contract. During those meetings in August I asked for assurances about the continued ability of the club to attract the top players in the world.
"I have never had anything but complete respect for MUFC. How could I not have done given its fantastic history and especially the last six years in which I have been lucky to play a part?
"For me its all about winning trophies - as the club has always done under Sir Alex. Because of that I think the questions I was asking were justified.
"Despite recent difficulties, I know I will always owe Sir Alex Ferguson a huge debt. He is a great manager and mentor who has helped and supported me from the day he signed me from Everton when I was only 18. For Manchester United's sake I wish he could go on forever because he's a one off and a genius.''
So now that he is about to leave lets look at his possible destinations. Chelsea won’t be the only club interested in buying such amazing talent and will face stern competition from the likes of Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Barcelona.

Although Rooney’s wife Coleen’s ailing sister may force him to stay in England rather than moving abroad. Wayne has finally got together with his wife Coleen, after all the sex scandal broke out about him have had flings with Jenny Thompson etc  So going against her wish and move abroad to another club will be the last thing on his mind. So that depletes the chances of Real Madrid and Barcelona to sign him.

So there are only two clubs in England who can actually afford him. They are Chelsea and cross town rivals Manchester City. Although inside sources from Old Trafford have confirmed that , come what may, Man Utd wont sell Rooney to Manchester City. They will do all they can to see to it that his transfer to City doesn’t happen. Inside sources also confirmed that they will first try to sell him to foreigner club and if such transfer does not happen they will be prepared to sell him to the likes of Chelsea than Manchester City.

So if such scenario does turn into reality , I don’t think Chelsea will have much competition to sign such prodigious talent.
