He has signed a three-year contract and will start work immediately.
Andre was the outstanding candidate for the job. He is one of the most talented young managers in football today and has already achieved much in a relatively short space of time. His ambition, drive and determination matches that of Chelsea and we are confident Andre's leadership of the team will result in greater successes in major domestic and European competitions.
Andre will bring his coaching experience back to a club he is already very familiar with, having previously worked here for three years. He has always been highly regarded at Chelsea and everyone here looks forward to welcoming him back and working with him.

Villas Boas was in charge of Porto last season where he won 4 trophies in his maiden season and he is regarded as one of the most fastest rising star in football management. His season with Porto ended as undefeated in league.

He previously has worked at Chelsea under Jose Mourinho. He has Mourinho's assistant who compiled opposition scouting reports before the match and that was considered as one of the pivotal aspect of  Mourinho's success at Chelsea.

Villas Boas will first be seen with Chelsea team when they play Vitesse and tour Asia in July. Once Premier League starts in August, he will be the most youngest manager at the age of 33.

We all wish him best of luck for his future at the club and hope to see him staying here for long time with cabinet full of trophies.
